Dr. Cummings
Dr. Laura Cummings has been a part of the Southborough Veterinary team for many years. She started her career in emergency medicine, practicing in an ER/ICU in Western Massachusetts. Her transition to general practice was a perfect fit for her love of the clients and patients alike…forming lasting relationships and devoting the time to education and maintenance of the human-animal bond.
Dr. Cummings graduated from Tufts University, both as an undergraduate (2000) and from the veterinary school in 2005 (a double Jumbo!). She completed an internship in small animal medicine, surgery, and emergency focus in Connecticut. She has worked in small animal practice in MA since 2006. Dr Cummings also taught a course for several years at Tufts that focused on ethics and philosophy in human-animal relationships.
Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Cummings enjoyed a wide variety of experiences including tracking and assisting sea turtles in Hawaii, giving presentations on wild animal life to tourists in Alaska, and working with the “horns and hooves” department in a zoo. Her heart still lies with the family pets though, from the adorable puppies and kittens to the sweet (or spicy!) elderly ones—she enjoys the celebrations and challenges of each stage of their lives.
Dr Cummings loves travelling and skiing, volunteering at her children’s school, and hiking with her three-legged dog.
